Palmer Ranch Sarasota FL

Palmer Ranch is a large real estate development just east of the city of Sarasota.

The land was originally purchased by the wife of Chicago real estate developer Potter Palmer, Bertha Honoré Palmer in 1910. Palmer Ranch was part of a massive 80,000 acre land purchase that Mrs. Palmer made in 1910.

Upon the passing of Mrs. Palmer, the land known as Palmer Ranch passed to her two sons who continued to develop the property as a Florida ranch for decades.

Today, much of the ranch is developed into subdivisions, shopping centers and a mall. Although parts of the ranch still maintained as the original cattle ranch operation that the Palmer's began in the early 1910s.
